The Estevan Economic Development Board is excited to be launching a new strategic marketing campaign starting Oct. 7.

The campaign will focus on promoting economic development in Estevan, including reaching new business owners and potential investors. Estevan’s new business incubator, the Southeast Business Start-Up, will also begin seeing new promotions and advertising efforts.

These two initiatives have been a major priority for the economic development board and will be essential to the further development of Estevan’s business sector. The launch includes social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, along with a new website, www.estevaneconomicdevelopment.ca.

The site features detailed information for business owners and potential investors and focuses on the incentives for new and existing businesses, including up to five years of tax abatement and $1 commercial lots in the Glen Peterson Industrial Park.

“Part of being successful in attracting new businesses to the city is making sure that the information is easy to find and delivered in a way that is visually appealing and representative of what a great community Estevan is to do business,” said Rick Sadick, Estevan’s economic development and coal transition co-ordinator.

The Southeast Business Start-Up is also launching their new website, www.southeastbusinessstartup.ca. The website features information on the services that are currently available as well as upcoming programs and events. The Southeast Business Start-Up opened their doors earlier this year next to Spectra Financial at 403 9th Avenue.

Jeff Taylor has been hired as the business resource centre manager and is excited for the opportunity to work with developing businesses within the city.

“I have a passion for business and I want to help entrepreneurs in the city bring their businesses to life and do so in a way that is affordable and easy to navigate,” said Taylor.

This project was funded with grant money from the Western Economic Diversification fund. The city chose to work with local sub-contractors to help support the local economy.

“We wanted to make sure that we had a really effective team that had an understanding of the needs of our community,” said city manager Jeff Ward. “We worked with local marketing, web design and advertising companies to develop these new sites, and moving forward, we will be focusing on keeping the public informed on the work economic development is doing to help grow Estevan.”
