John grew up on a dairy farm in Manitoba. When he finished high school, John got into the Electrical trade with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. John got his Red Seal Electrical Ticket in 2004, that has taken him all over Western Canada on numerous large industrial Sites. John was working in the power plants in Estevan with a local contractor when he decided to put a resume into SaskPower. He was hired Feb 01,2012. John worked alongside his Coworker’s keeping the lights on for the Community and the Province. John feels and sees the stresses on the workers at the power plants, mines, and the community. The community for the last 10 years has experienced the emotional rollercoaster ride from the threat of Coal being shut down. John is currently an Assistant Business Manager with IBEW 2067. He continues to advocate wherever he can for these workers and the community. John brings the workers opinion to this table on how things should be done in Estevan that will benefit all. “We all must work together towards keeping Estevan a thriving community”.
